Two-piece systems only fit when the flange size on the pouch matches the flange size on the skin barrier. Hollister Conform 2 uses 45, 55 and 70 mm; HDL-Hendry uses 50, 60 and 70 mm. The two ranges are not interchangeable.
Empty through the tap at around a third full. Urine is heavy and a full pouch pulls at the base, and prolonged contact between urine and peristomal skin is what causes most of the skin problems seen in urostomy.
The anti-reflux valve holds urine in the lower part of the pouch so it cannot wash back up against the stoma when you lie down or bend. That matters most overnight, which is also when a night drainage bag is worth using.
Cut the barrier opening close to the stoma — closer than you would for a colostomy — because any exposed skin will be in contact with urine. If you see a persistent red ring around the stoma, the opening is usually too large.
It keeps collected urine in the lower part of the pouch so it cannot flow back against the stoma when you lie down or bend, which helps protect the skin.

So urine colour and clarity can be seen without opening anything — useful for spotting changes early.
